The Rippon Hall looks out over Rippon’s vines, Lake Wānaka, Ruby Island, and the Southern Alps beyond. With access right down to the lake itself.

Your Perfect Day

Situated atop the Rippon hill, the hall and its surrounding outdoor spaces offer a spectacular outdoor Wānaka wedding venue. The natural amphitheatre, offering views out over the vines to Lake Wānaka and the Southern Alps, lies adjacent to the Rippon Hall and is our hugely popular outdoor ceremony location.

The main hall is the ideal venue for small to mid-sized wedding receptions with capacity to seat 75-85 guests comfortably, a striking wet weather option for an indoor ceremony and makes for the perfect dance floor when it comes times to kick the heels off and party the night away. The picture window at the lake end of the hall offers year-round views while the large open fireplace keeps the room cosy even on the coldest of winter days.

Some couples choose to carry on in the amphitheatre for toasts, canapés and lawn games, while others opt to move the celebrations up the hill for closer access to the comforts of our world-class hall.

Frequently Asked

Is there accommodation on site?

Rippon has no accommodation on site. We can recommend fantastic accommodation options close by to Rippon.

Can we use Confetti at Rippon?

Confetti is not permitted at Rippon. Flower Petals may be used as part of your celebration with care—please avoid throwing them on windy days or into the vines, and ensure a thorough cleanup afterwards. Usage is weather-dependent, so please check with your Rippon representative on the day to confirm if it is suitable.

Are tables, linens, chairs, plates, silverware and glassware provided?

Rippon is a dry hire venue, meaning glassware, crockery, linens, tables, chairs, etc, are not included and will need to hired by an external supplier. Our catering teams will generally include these items in the quote they provide to you and they will also factor in staffing for set-up and pack-down.

How much is the deposit, when is it due, and is it refundable? What’s the payment plan for the entire bill?

A 25% non-refundable booking deposit is required to secure your booking. Bookings are confirmed on receipt of your booking deposit and the return of an initialled and signed copy of The Rippon Hall Terms and Conditions. 25% of the remaining balance will be invoiced 6 months before your wedding day. The final 50% of the hire balance will be invoiced 60 days before your wedding day. Your beverage invoice, reflecting only what has been consumed on the evening, will be issued within 3-5 working days following your event and will be due within 7 working days.

How many guests can you accommodate?

The main hall can accommodate 75 - 80 guests seated comfortably. The covered canopy area, a permanent marquee structure adjacent to the main hall and connected by two sets of tri-fold doors, is included in the one and two-day venue hire, and can accommodate up to 230 guests for a seated function. The venue is licensed for 375, including staff and other vendors.

Is venue hire exclusive?

The Rippon Cellar Door (tasting room) operates daily and remains open on event and set-up days. For the Rippon Celebration package, we will close the Cellar Door at 2pm on your wedding day, approximately one hour prior to your ceremony time to ensure all members of the public are offsite prior to your ceremony.

Please note as a public space, some impact on privacy should be expected for those using "The Amphitheatre" for our Vines and Vows and the Proposal Package, or for ceremonies prior to 2:00 pm. Should you wish to have venue exclusivity throughout the entire duration of your hire, this is an option for an additional fee.

Will you be there on the day of my event?

Absolutely; a dedicated Rippon staff member will be available for the duration of your hire to ensure the smooth running of the venue in all respects.

How many restrooms are there?

There are six toilets down 2 sets of stairs and one disabled access toilet in the main entrance foyer available for the sole use of your party. Rippon will ensure they are properly maintained on the day of your event.

What’s your weather contingency plan for outdoor spaces?

Indoor ceremonies can be accommodated either in the main hall or in the marquee. Our catering teams are flexible and accommodate wet-weather calls on the morning of your event.

What time is last call?

Last drinks and the final song will be called no later than 11:45pm. Our alcohol licence ends at 12:00am, and all guest transport must depart by this time. The property must be fully vacated by 12:15am.

Is there parking on site?

We do strongly advise that you book bus transportation so all guests get home safely. There is plenty of complimentary parking at Rippon, and guests are welcome to leave vehicles overnight and pick them up the following morning by 11:00 am.

Are there noise restrictions, or a time by which music must end?  Can you accommodate a DJ or live band?

Yes, we are happy to accommodate a DJ, live band, or a curated playlist. Music may continue in the main hall until midnight, with the final song and last call no later than 11:45 PM. Please note that due to local noise restrictions, all panels of the terrace canopy must be lowered by 10:00 PM to help manage sound levels.

How does the beverage process work?

As a fully licensed venue, we offer a wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. All items—except spirits—are charged on a consumption basis, so you’ll only be invoiced for what is actually used. We’ll help estimate spirit quantities based on your guest numbers and preferences.

All products must remain in original condition, with labels intact and no water damage. Rippon wines are required when hiring The Rippon Hall.

A private wine tasting for up to six guests is available to assist with your wine selection. Please request our beverage menu for current pricing and full details.
