?Mainly A Capella? is a simple idea that grew.? The Treble Tones are a local all women A capella group that have been singing together in various formations since 2012. Led by Frances Cowie the group sings an eclectic mix from pop to world music and choral pieces, in 3 and 4-part harmonies.
Wanting to bring a mid-winter performance to friends and family, last year they organised ?Totally A Capella? and were joined by three other local choirs including the first outing for the newly reformed MAC choir. Their first concert was held at the Rippon Hall in August 2017.
This year the other choirs have been unable to commit, the date has been moved back slightly but the main idea is still there! The programme has been expanded to include some classical music highlights from some MAC students, giving them the opportunity to perform in an intimate and supportive environment. Hence the name ?Mainly A Capella?!
The full programme includes Treble Tones singing a mixed repertoire of songs, the MAC choir, two year 11 students at MAC playing piano ? Estelle Norman and Oliver Clements, and a newly formed Chamber Music group from MAC called ?Up an Octave? who will play a mixed repertoire of whatever classical music they can find in the cupboard in the music department!
Rippon wine will be on sale so we invite people to come and enjoy an afternoon by the fire with wine, music and song and celebrate the young (and not so young!) musical talent in our community. Laura Williamson will preside as MC.
Tickets are $10 and on sale now at Pembroke Wines ? school age children free of charge. We encourage you to book your tickets early to avoid disappointment.
